“Breaking the rules has become a normal part of how I approach music. Like anyone else, I have my influences, my inspirations, and I try to keep certain key components in every piece straightforward and even simple on their surface. The complexity comes in those parts’ delivery mechanism. What surrounds them, and how each piece evolves can be unpredictable, and this is by design.
“My strengths in music creation are that I have always had a keen sense of timing and melody, plus the ability to absorb and combine many different styles at once. I am also committed to maintaining some cultural authenticity in my performances. All of that said, pushing beyond normal boundaries is always part of the process, even if that means breaking my own penchant for complexity by simplifying things.
“The FREED series (Music With No Guardrails) is meant to further confuse matters.
“The STIR series did have some guiding principles. FREED has fewer, as you will see. I hope you enjoy.”
