My newest piece, Montana is a tribute to the beginnings of America’s “melting pot”. The music is a blend of Old West “parlor” music with modernized harmonies, a “semi-classical” cinematic arrangement, and Native American stylings, including a main melody that acknowledges the Chinese influences in Western music. Conceptually, the piece and its video portray musicians from various backgrounds, musical styles, and levels of expertise, all playing together to create the American tapestry.
